About the Role
The Regional Child Nutrition Specialist provides technical assistance, training, and regulatory guidance to support the effective administration of Child Nutrition Programs (CNP) within a designated region.
Responsibilities
- Interpret and apply federal and state regulations related to child nutrition and food service operations.
- Deliver in-person and virtual training to program participants and support ongoing education efforts.
- Conduct comprehensive reviews of program operations, ensuring compliance with nutritional standards, procurement, and food safety regulations.
- Identify operational concerns, investigate complaints, and support corrective actions for continuous program improvement.
- Assist with onboarding, peer support, and temporarily assume regulatory responsibilities during staffing gaps.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Nutrition, or related field; three years of relevant experience or equivalent.
- Knowledge of Child Nutrition Programs, USDA requirements, menu planning, and procurement practices.
- Strong instructional, facilitation, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage a regional territory independently, prioritize responsibilities, and handle sensitive situations tactfully.
- Willingness to travel extensively within the region for reviews, training, and technical assistance.
- Valid driver's license, ability to lift up to 30 lbs., and adaptability to various work environments.
