Child & Family Therapist

Full-time, exempt position with a varied schedule including weekends and on-call availability.

About the role

Provides in-depth clinical assessment and treatment of children and families. Conducts individual, group, and family therapy sessions, monitors progress on treatment plan goals, and provides general oversight of the implementation of the treatment plan goals.

We care for children in crisis, including those abused, abandoned, or neglected, giving love, hope, and a place to live to more than 500 children through group homes, foster care, an independent living program, and specialized therapy.

Responsibilities

• Perform psychosocial assessment upon assignment of case.
• Provide treatment planning and oversight for behavioral health programming associated with implementing treatment plans on assigned caseload.
• Conduct individual, group, and family therapy for youth and their families.
• Maintain case records for all youth in care.
• Complete discharge summary at youth’s discharge from the program.
• Administer the youth’s Functional Assessment Rating Scale (Florida Version) and other applicable assessments as needed.
• Attend psychiatric appointments for youth as needed.
• Attend court hearings, judicial reviews, or other legal meetings as required.
• Participate in guardian ad litem and/or case manager meetings/staffings as needed.
• Arrange home visits for youth.
• Serve as the liaison between Residing Hope and each youth’s family.
• Coordinate community resources as needed by individual residents.
• Facilitate treatment plan review/changeover meetings.
• Provide crisis counseling to staff and residents as needed.
• Meet regularly with direct reports to lead planning, implementing, and evaluating services, systems, and structure in the assigned cottage program.
• Remain current with agency personnel policies and practices and manage within these policies.
• Serve as an on-call clinician for assigned residents.
• Attend clinical supervision with direct supervisor.
• Attend Clinical Department meetings for supervisory development sessions.
• Ensure staff participation in team decisions.
• Perform all other assigned job duties and responsibilities.

Requirements

• Master’s Degree in Human Services or related field and two years’ experience in social work, counseling, or related areas preferred; or any combination of training, education, and experience which provides the required knowledge, abilities, and skills.
• Active Florida LCSW, LMHC, or LMFT license or license-eligible and pursuing completion of licensure, preferred.
• Demonstrated experience working with children with a history of complex trauma, mental health, and behavioral disorders.
• Familiarity with DSM-5 and ICD-10 assessment and diagnosis.
• Certification as a CFARS assessor, preferred.
• Ability to maintain sensitivity to cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of the target population.

Travel

This position may require up to 5% travel for case meetings, court appointments, and various training opportunities in Florida.
