About the role
The Child Development Coach provides individualized and group coaching to classroom staff with a focus in the areas of CLASS, teaching practices, curriculum, and assessment. This role plays a critical part in ensuring high-quality teaching aligned with the Head Start Performance Standards, state and local licensing requirements, and organizational expectations.
Responsibilities
- Technical coaching of classroom staff in areas such as CLASS, teaching practices, curriculum, and assessment.
- Supports onboarding and professional growth for classroom staff, focusing on effective teaching strategies, classroom management, and social-emotional learning based on the Pyramid Model.
- Collaborates with the Child Development Supervisor and Behavioral Health Consultant (BHC) to achieve goals through collaborative goal-setting, observation, modeling, and feedback.
- Contributes to the creation of well-organized learning environments that support developmentally appropriate schedules, lesson plans, and activities for all age groups.
- Supports the learning, collection, inputting, and integration of child assessment data and individualized learning experiences to meet all children's needs.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a closely related field from an accredited college or university, including at least 30 credit hours in early childhood coursework.
- Minimum of two years of successful experience as a lead teacher in a CPCD or Head Start partner classroom serving children from birth to five years old.
- Strong understanding of early childhood development, adult learning theory, and instructional strategies.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse populations and adult learners.
- Proficient in implementing and supporting: Creative Curriculum, CLASS (Classroom Assessment Scoring System), ITERS and ECERS (Infant/Toddler and Early Childhood Environment Rating Scales), Colorado Shines, Pyramid Plus Approach, Teaching Strategies GOLD.
- Must possess or be able to obtain the Colorado Coach Credential through Colorado Shines upon hire.
- Must successfully complete a physical examination, drug screen and TB screening. In accordance with the Head Start Performance Standards.
- Must have access to reliable transportation and if using a personal vehicle must maintain minimum liability insurance as determined by the State of Colorado.

Skills
- Experience with Practice-Based Coaching or similar coaching models (preferred).
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) (preferred).
- Familiarity with the Head Start Early Learning Outcomes Framework (preferred).
