Part-time, permanent position with a 9-month work year (202 days/year, 5 days/week).
Pay
$18.11 - $20.65 per hour / $3,254 - $3,580 per month (CSEA General Unit Salary Schedule)
Schedule
- Part Time
- Monday - Friday, 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM
- 4-hour work day
Responsibilities
Work with school-age children in the Discovery Club program (Head Start, State Preschool).
Qualifications
- Entry-level position; relevant experience and/or education in Early Childhood Education (ECE) required.
- Preferences (not required but desirable):
- Associate Teacher Permit (ATP) from the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC).
- Completion of college units in Early Childhood Education (ECE).
- Completion of 6 ECE units.
- Previous experience working with school-age children ages 5-12.
- For positions at Northridge, Mariposa, and Carmichael sites:
- Experience working with infant/toddler children ages 0-3 years and/or preschool children ages 3-5 years.
- Associate Teacher Permit (ATP) issued by the CTC or proof of qualifications for the ATP.
Requirements
- Completed application listing relevant experience, education, and/or training.
- For all applicants:
- Provide documentation demonstrating qualifications (e.g., proof of ATP, higher education, or completion of 6 ECE units).
- Official transcripts required if submitting education credentials. Foreign transcripts must be evaluated for U.S. equivalency.
- For Northridge, Mariposa, and Carmichael sites, must pre-qualify by attaching one of the following:
- Option #1: Copy of a valid ATP permit issued by the CTC (include document number).
- Option #2: If no ATP permit, provide:
- Official transcripts showing completion of 2 years of college (48 semester/60 quarter units) and 12 ECE/Child Development units, including core courses.
- Proof of at least 50 days of instructional experience in a childcare program within the last 2 years (minimum 3 hours/day), on official employer letterhead.
