Child Care Worker

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement activities to meet the physical, emotional, intellectual, and social needs of the children in the program
• Provide nutritious snacks and lunches
• Develop excellent activities, experiences, and programs that are culturally appropriate
• Ensure equipment and the facility are clean, well maintained, and safe
• Provide weekly and monthly schedules of activities
• Establish policies and procedures including acceptable disciplinary policies
• Be familiar with emergency procedures
• Ensure supervision at all times
• Create experiences and activities for children including songs, games, and storytelling
• Provide opportunities for sleep and rest time
• Provide a safe and secure environment for children to feel comfortable
• Implement positive discipline when required
• Keep parents informed of program expectations, program activities, and their child’s progress

Requirements

• Education: High School Diploma or GED
• Experience: Knowledge of community resources required. One to two years' experience in the childcare or a related field preferred
• Certificates or Licenses: Valid driver’s license. Insurance: Valid automobile insurance
• Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency in English required. Bi-lingual (Spanish) is a plus
• Computer Skills: Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, internet, and other software as required
• Math Skills: Must be excellent
• Physical Performance: Ability to tour property, walk distances, and climb stairs
• Reasoning Ability: Ability to prioritize, make judgment calls, and make appropriate decisions
• Other Skills: Ability to relate to the underserved, homeless, and disabled populations. Ability to work independently or as part of a team, be highly organized, work well under pressure, meet deadlines, multitask, be flexible, and maintain a high level of attention to details. Ability to develop, plan, and implement activities
• Other Requirements: Must have reliable transportation

Pay

Salary: $18.00 per hour, approximately $37,440 annually. Overtime available.

Schedule

Open shifts: Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
