About the role
The South Dakota Human Services Center, a behavioral health hospital providing services in adult acute psychiatric, psychiatric rehabilitation, substance use disorder treatment, geriatrics, and adolescent patients, is seeking a board eligible/board certified Psychiatrist to serve the adolescent patients.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose patients
- Establish and direct treatment plans for adolescent patients
- Serve as a member of a treatment team which reviews and determines prescribed treatment
- Prescribe medication for patients
- Monitor therapeutic progress of patients
- Instruct medical students in treatment methodology and evaluate their work
- Provide consultations as requested
Requirements
- Licensed to practice medicine in the State of South Dakota
- Knowledge of methods and principles of medicine, diagnosis, care and treatment of patients, including adolescents, with mental illness
- Recent research and developments in psychiatry
- Principles and procedures of in-patient treatment
- Psychiatric evaluation of patients
- Psychotropic medications
Qualifications
- Methods and principles of medicine
- Diagnosis, care and treatment of patients, including adolescents, with mental illness
- Recent research and developments in psychiatry
- Principles and procedures of in-patient treatment
- Psychiatric evaluation of patients
- Psychotropic medications
Skills
- Diagnose and classify mental disorders with established criteria as set forth in the Diagnostic Statistical Manual
- Write psychiatric evaluation reports and discharge summaries
- Prescribe appropriate medications and monitor results
- Exchange ideas, information and opinions with others to formulate treatment plans
- Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and collaborate with colleagues
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing

Pay
Annual Salary, depending on qualifications: $321,217.92 - $428,290.56
