Child & Adult Psychiatrist

About the role

The South Dakota Human Services Center, a behavioral health hospital providing services in adult acute psychiatric, psychiatric rehabilitation, substance use disorder treatment, geriatrics, and adolescent patients, is seeking a board eligible/board certified Psychiatrist to serve the adolescent patients.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose patients
• Establish and direct treatment plans for adolescent patients
• Serve as a member of a treatment team which reviews and determines prescribed treatment
• Prescribe medication for patients
• Monitor therapeutic progress of patients
• Instruct medical students in treatment methodology and evaluate their work
• Provide consultations as requested

Requirements

• Licensed to practice medicine in the State of South Dakota
• Knowledge of methods and principles of medicine, diagnosis, care and treatment of patients, including adolescents, with mental illness
• Recent research and developments in psychiatry
• Principles and procedures of in-patient treatment
• Psychiatric evaluation of patients
• Psychotropic medications

Skills

• Diagnose and classify mental disorders with established criteria as set forth in the Diagnostic Statistical Manual
• Write psychiatric evaluation reports and discharge summaries
• Prescribe appropriate medications and monitor results
• Exchange ideas, information and opinions with others to formulate treatment plans
• Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and collaborate with colleagues
• Communicate effectively both orally and in writing

Pay

Annual Salary, depending on qualifications: $321,217.92 - $428,290.56

Schedule

Full-Time 40 Hour Weekly
