Duties/Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough psychiatric assessments, diagnosis, and treatment plans or patients.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans, including medication management and therapy options.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure top tier Psychiatric care for residents, including the Collaborating Psychiatrist, Mental Health Professionals, and HUB Coordinators.
  • Prescribe and administer psychiatric medications as necessary.
  • Conduct daily rounds in one designated hospital, ensuring continuity of care and effective communication with the healthcare team.
  • Respond promptly to consult requests from the Emergency Department and Inpatient units, offering expert psychiatric assessments and recommendations.
  • Monitor and adjust medication regimens to optimize effectiveness and minimize side effects.
  • Implement therapeutic techniques to address a wide range of psychiatric conditions.
  • Offer education and support to residents and their families regarding mental health conditions and treatment options.
  • Promote mental health awareness and wellness among residents.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records in compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Ensure timely and thorough documentation of all assessments and interventions.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance mental health care services within the facility.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to identify areas for improvement and implement changes.

Qualifications

  • Master's or Doctoral degree in Nursing from an accredited program specializing in Psychiatric Mental Health.
  • Current and unrestricted PMHNP license in the state of PA.
  • Board certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC).
  • Minimum of 2 years clinical experience as a PMHNP, preferably in a hospital or acute care setting.
  • Strong knowledge of psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and treatment.
  • Active and unrestricted DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration).
