Our mission is to drive transparency in energy markets by combining proprietary data, asset-level models, expert research, and workflow-ready software. Our Energy Data Studio® platform helps customers forecast, compare, and analyze infrastructure and commodity performance across crude oil, natural gas, and NGL markets. It brings together operational and financial data, production forecasts, pipeline utilization, takeaway capacity, contract terms, counterparty risk, regulatory filings, dashboards, and exportable datasets. We are looking for a CTO to help scale East Daley from a high-value research and data business into a category-defining energy intelligence platform. The OpportunityThis is a hands-on executive technology leadership role for someone who has built and scaled complex data, analytics, AI, and SaaS products—ideally in markets where domain expertise, data quality, and customer trust matter as much as software velocity. The right leader will inherit differentiated market expertise, proprietary models, a growing Energy Data Studio platform, and a team with deep knowledge of energy fundamentals. Your mandate is to transform that foundation into a scalable, modern, secure technology platform supporting product-led growth, enterprise data delivery, AI-enabled workflows, and faster innovation. This role is for a technology leader who wants to be close to the business, customers, and product—not someone who wants to run a detached engineering organization. What You’ll OwnYou will own East Daley’s technology strategy, architecture, engineering execution, data platform, software delivery, and technical talent strategy. You will partner with the CEO, product, research, data, commercial, and customer teams to turn East Daley’s proprietary intelligence into software, data products, APIs, analytics workflows, and scalable customer experiences. The core mandate includes:Platform strategy and architectureDefine the technical roadmap for Energy Data Studio and related data products. Establish a modern architecture supporting dashboards, APIs, data exports, customer workflows, internal modeling, and AI-enabled capabilities.Data platform and model operationsBuild scalable systems for ingesting, validating, transforming, versioning, and distributing high-value energy data. Strengthen data trust, lineage, transparency, and repeatable model workflows.Product-engineering executionCreate a high-performance engineering model with clear roadmaps, delivery discipline, release management, observability, documentation, QA, and customer feedback loops. Increase product velocity without compromising analytical accuracy or customer confidence.AI and automation strategyIdentify practical opportunities for AI, machine learning, and automation to improve data ingestion, anomaly detection, research workflows, forecasting, customer interaction, search, summarization, and product experience. The approach should be pragmatic and commercially grounded.Customer-facing technology leadershipEngage with strategic customers, prospects, and partners to understand workflow needs and translate them into product priorities. Demonstrate East Daley’s technical credibility to sophisticated energy, finance, infrastructure, and trading customers.Team leadership and talent developmentLead and scale engineering, data engineering, platform, and technical product functions. Recruit senior talent, raise engineering standards, and build a culture where domain experts and technologists collaborate deeply.Security, reliability, and enterprise readinessEnsure the platform meets institutional customer expectations for security, access control, uptime, permissioning, auditability, vendor management, and scalable delivery. What Success Looks LikeIn the first 6–12 months, success will mean:A clear technology strategy tied to business growth, product strategy, and customer value. An executable Energy Data Studio engineering roadmap with improved release velocity, prioritization, and accountability.Core data workflows that are more scalable, observable, documented, and less dependent on manual handoffs.Engineering, data, product, research, and commercial teams operating from a shared roadmap.Improvements in customer usability, performance, data access, APIs, visualization, and workflow integration.A credible path toward useful, trusted, differentiated AI-enabled energy intelligence capabilities. The Profile We’re Looking ForWe are interested in leaders who have built sophisticated B2B data, analytics, SaaS, or market intelligence platforms and operated at the intersection of engineering, data, product, and commercial strategy. You may be a fit if you have:10+ years of progressive technology leadership experience, including senior engineering, VP Engineering, CTO, or equivalent roles.Experience building and scaling data-intensive products, analytics platforms, workflow software, market intelligence platforms, or B2B SaaS products.A track record of leading engineering teams through scale, including architecture modernization, technical debt reduction, platform reliability, and product execution.Strong fluency in data platforms, cloud architecture, APIs, analytics workflows, data pipelines, governance, and enterprise software delivery.Experience partnering across product, research, commercial, and customer-facing teams to turn domain expertise into scalable products.A pragmatic view of AI and automation and the ability to identify use cases that improve product experience, productivity, or data quality.Credibility with technical teams and executives, with the ability to explain technical tradeoffs to non-technical stakeholders.A bias toward shipping and iterating while respecting East Daley’s commitment to accuracy, transparency, and analytical trust.Energy experience is valuable but not mandatory. Curiosity and respect for complex domain expertise are mandatory.Experience That Would Stand OutExperience in energy, commodities, infrastructure, financial data, market intelligence, trading analytics, geospatial data, or regulatory data.Experience building products combining proprietary and third-party data, forecasting models, visualization, and customer workflow tools.Experience modernizing a founder-led or domain-expert-led technology organization while preserving what makes the company distinctive.Experience scaling distributed engineering teams and building strong engineering culture.Experience with data acquisition, entity resolution, time-series data, model versioning, BI/visualization, APIs, and customer-facing data delivery.Experience commercializing AI/ML capabilities within a trusted B2B information product. Why This Role Is CompellingThis is a rare opportunity to own technology for a business with real proprietary differentiation. East Daley is not building another generic dashboard product. We are building the system of record for energy market participants who need to understand asset-level fundamentals, infrastructure constraints, cross-commodity relationships, and financial exposure.East Daley already has the domain expertise, models, customer trust, and proprietary data foundation. The CTO’s job is to turn that foundation into a platform that scales.Compensation & BenefitsThe anticipated base salary range is $250,000 to $300,000 annually, depending on experience, qualifications, and demonstrated fit. The package also includes a target annual performance incentive of 20% to 30% of base salary and comprehensive benefits. East Daley expects to hire within this range but may consider compensation outside it for an exceptional candidate.Medical, dental, and vision coverage with company contributions.401(k) with a 3% company contribution.Flexible spending and health savings account options with company contributions.Company-paid life, accidental death, short-term disability, and long-term disability coverage.Collaborative, in-person team environment in Greenwood Village, CO.Dog-friendly office where team members may bring well-behaved dogs from time to time. Why Join East DaleyAn executive role with the opportunity to shape East Daley’s technology, product, and AI strategy.A differentiated data and analytics platform serving a complex, high-value energy market.Direct partnership with executive leadership, product, research, commercial teams, and customers. The opportunity to scale a modern technology organization around proprietary data and domain expertise.A fast-moving environment where technology directly influences innovation, customer value, and company growth.Predictive Index AssessmentsEast Daley Analytics uses Predictive Index assessments as one input in our hiring process.
