The Role
Launchpad Build AI is seeking a CTO to lead the development of our groundbreaking Manufacturing Language Model (MLMTM) and other cutting-edge technologies that enable real-world assembly automation. The ideal candidate will be responsible for setting technical priorities, making critical decisions around building, buying, or partnering, and driving the company towards its ambitious goals.
Responsibilities
- Own the direction and data strategy for the Manufacturing Language Model (MLM), ensuring it meets production needs and achieves reliability on the factory floor.
- Develop and implement the CAD-to-execution platform (DigiSolvAI) to bridge the gap between design intent and actual production processes.
- Lead the development of real-time computer vision capabilities, including inspection, part recognition, and guidance systems robust enough for industrial settings.
- Design and implement self-programming robotics solutions using ROS2, focusing on edge and embedded compute platforms.
- Set sourcing strategies for hardware components, balancing standardization with proprietary innovation to optimize costs and performance.
- Build and lead a technical organization across both U.S. and U.K. locations, recruiting top talent and setting high standards for the team.
Requirements
- Real depth in multiple areas of technology, including machine learning, large language models, robotic automation, computer vision, and manufacturing processes.
- A proven track record of successful technology development and implementation in complex, multi-disciplinary projects.
- A natural curiosity and willingness to dive deep into challenging problems, often without complete information.
- A strong entrepreneurial spirit and a startup mindset, prioritizing rapid iteration and learning over perfection.
Qualifications
- Advanced degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience leading cross-functional teams and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proven ability to drive innovation and solve complex technical challenges.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Skills
- Expertise in machine learning, particularly in large language models and reinforcement learning.
- Experience with robotics and automation systems, including ROS2 and similar frameworks.
- Knowledge of computer vision techniques and their application in industrial settings.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes and the ability to translate technical solutions into practical applications.
- Ability to manage and prioritize competing demands and deadlines.
Benefits
- Competitive compensation package, including equity options.
- Flexible work arrangements to support a healthy work-life balance.
- Opportunities for continuous learning and professional growth within a dynamic and innovative environment.
- Collaborative and supportive team culture focused on achieving shared goals.
