Chief Structural Engineer

Provide expertise and support in structural engineering, including structural steel design, foundation design, concrete design, and vibration analysis. Assist with sales, marketing, staff forecasting, proposal preparation, and project cost control.

Responsibilities

• Civil/Structural conceptual, preliminary, and detail design
• Manage a staff of Structural Engineers and Designers (currently 6)
• Communicate directly with clients on projects
• Assist and direct preparation of proposals for new work
• Develop engineering cost estimates for construction
• Perform quality control of structural work for the company
• Conduct structural staff performance reviews
• Assist with sales, marketing, and project cost control

Engineering Duties

• Direct and select criteria for design of structures across a wide range of projects
• Apply and utilize codes and standards for structural projects
• Perform analysis and design of structural systems in concrete, structural steel, and platework
• Design foundations and retaining walls
• Conduct vibration studies and analysis
• Oversee all technical aspects of structural project work

Project Management

• Provide technical guidance and oversight to designers and engineers
• Assist in project management and manage some projects directly
• Responsible for discipline planning and coordination

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Structural, Civil, or Architectural discipline)
• 10-20 years’ experience in structural engineering, preferably in construction or heavy industrial sectors
• Licensed Professional Engineer (required)
