About the role

Availity is seeking a visionary and execution-oriented Chief Strategy & Corporate Development Officer to shape the company's future growth and competitive position within the evolving healthcare ecosystem. As a member of the Executive Leadership Team, this leader will partner closely with the CEO, Board, and executive team to define Availity's long-term strategy, identify new growth opportunities, lead corporate development activities, and drive enterprise-wide strategic initiatives. The role involves assessing growth vectors, determining strategic priorities, and evaluating whether to achieve them through organic investment, partnerships, acquisitions, or new business ventures. This position is remote, based in the U.S., and does not offer sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Enterprise Strategy
    • Lead the development and refinement of Availity's long-term strategic plan.
    • Partner with the CEO and Executive Leadership Team to establish enterprise priorities and growth objectives.
    • Facilitate strategic planning, capital allocation, and portfolio management processes.
    • Develop frameworks for effective enterprise decision-making and prioritization.
    • Monitor industry trends, competitive dynamics, customer needs, and regulatory developments affecting Availity's business.
  • Corporate Development
    • Develop and execute Availity's corporate development strategy.
    • Identify, evaluate, and prioritize acquisition, investment, partnership, and joint venture opportunities.
    • Lead strategic due diligence efforts, valuation analyses, and transaction execution.
    • Present recommendations and investment theses to executive leadership and the Board.
    • Build and maintain a robust pipeline of strategic growth opportunities.
    • Manage external advisors, investment bankers, consultants, and legal partners as required.
  • Strategic Partnerships & Ecosystem Growth
    • Expand Availity's influence and position across the healthcare ecosystem.
    • Develop strategic relationships with payers, providers, technology partners, and emerging healthcare innovators.
    • Identify opportunities to strengthen Availity's network advantage, interoperability capabilities, and market position.
    • Evaluate opportunities to accelerate growth through partnership models and strategic alliances.
  • Innovation & Future Growth
    • Identify emerging opportunities in healthcare technology, AI, interoperability, automation, and administrative simplification.
    • Help the organization balance investment in current operations with future growth opportunities.
    • Evaluate new markets, business models, product opportunities, and revenue streams.
  • Enterprise Transformation
    • Lead or sponsor strategic initiatives driving enterprise growth, operational effectiveness, and organizational alignment.
    • Ensure strategic objectives are translated into actionable plans and measurable outcomes.
    • Monitor strategic initiative performance and ensure accountability for results.
    • Serve as a thought partner to leaders across Product, Technology, Growth, Operations, and Finance.
  • Board & Executive Leadership Support
    • Prepare strategic recommendations, market analyses, and investment proposals for Board review.
    • Serve as a trusted advisor to the CEO and Executive Leadership Team.
    • Communicate Availity's strategic direction clearly and consistently across the organization.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in strategy, corporate development, investment banking, consulting, healthcare technology, or related fields.
  • Significant experience leading enterprise strategy initiatives and growth programs.
  • Experience evaluating and executing mergers, acquisitions, strategic partnerships, investments, or divestitures.
  • Strong financial, analytical, and business modeling capabilities.
  • Demonstrated success influencing executive leaders and Boards.
  • Healthcare technology, healthcare services, payer, provider, revenue cycle, or interoperability experience.
  • MBA or equivalent advanced business degree.
  • Experience leading enterprise transformation initiatives in high-growth or rapidly evolving organizations.
