Chief Stationary Engineer

About the Role

Acts as liaison between the Director of Plant Operations and the plant operations personnel. Assists the Director in the monitoring and supervision of the hospital facilities, equipment, and staff. Submits work schedules and delegates specific job assignments to engineer personnel as approved by the Director of Plant Operations. Assists Director in orienting new employees and contractors in plant operations functions.

Responsibilities

• Performs maintenance involving inspection, greasing, oiling, adjusting, and cleaning on the following: pressure boilers, hot water heating systems, air handling units.
• Dismantles machinery and equipment to gain access to and remove defective parts; repairs and replaces worn or broken parts.
• Other duties as assigned by the Director.

Requirements

• High School graduate and/or vocational training.
• City of Philadelphia Class "A" Stationary Engineer License.
• Must demonstrate proficiency in several trades.
• Must be able to interpret blueprints and work from drawings.
• Must demonstrate proficiency in building maintenance techniques.
• Must demonstrate proficiency in the operations of elevators and emergency power generators.
• Minimum of 5 years supervisory experience and demonstrate supervisory qualities.
