About the role

This position is located at Pelican Bay State Prison (PBSP) in Crescent City, CA. The mission of PBSP is to provide constitutional medical, dental, and mental health care, in a timely, safe, and efficient manner. The primary care services are delivered to the outpatient population through six primary care clinics that operate daily. PBSP has a Correctional Treatment Center (CTC) for inpatient services, and an Urgent Treatment Area (UTA) both operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Job Description And Duties

Under the general direction of the Chief Executive Officer, the Chief Psychologist, Correctional Facility will be responsible for the implementation of the Department’s Mental Health Programs and administrative duties in the institution. This includes providing oversight to the institution’s mental health program, policy implementation and maintenance, quality management, and reporting programs. Some travel is required.

Minimum Qualifications

Possession of a valid license as a Psychologist issued by the California Board of Psychology and possession of an earned Doctorate Degree in Psychology from an educational institution meeting the criteria of Section 2914 of the Medical Board of California's Business and Professions Code. And either: At least two years' experience as a licensed Psychologist in the Department of Corrections, or at least three years' experience as a licensed Psychologist in a forensic setting such as a local jail or community-based forensic treatment unit.
