About the Opportunity
The Chief Operating Officer will play a pivotal role in scaling the organization's operations to meet ambitious funding deployment goals by 2030. This leadership position is responsible for overseeing operational strategy, organizational health, and resource management to support the organization's mission. The role requires collaboration with executive leadership and program teams to ensure effective execution of strategic priorities and operational excellence at increasing scales.
Responsibilities
- Lead strategic organizational management, identifying risks, bottlenections, and opportunities.
- Develop and implement operational strategies including finance, HR, compliance, and program operations.
- Support the formation of new biosecurity organizations.
- Collaborate with program leadership to align resource plans with strategic priorities.
- Represent the organization externally with legal counsel, partners, and stakeholders.
- Lead recruitment and talent retention efforts alongside executive leadership.
- Manage the operations function and supervise the Operations Lead.
- Oversee onboarding, offboarding, compensation frameworks, and employee development across jurisdictions.
- Manage financial health including budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and cash flow.
- Ensure compliance with nonprofit regulations, coordinating with external legal and accounting advisors.
Requirements
- 8–12+ years of experience in operations and organizational leadership.
- Proven ability to manage complex projects and make sound decisions in ambiguous, high-stakes environments.
- Strong people management and communication skills.
- Capacity to operate strategically and tactically in a fast-paced, mission-driven setting.
- Deep alignment with the mission of biosecurity and pandemic prevention.
Pay Range and Compensation Package
The pay range and compensation package for this role will be determined based on the candidate’s experience, skills, and other relevant factors.
