Chief Of Staff - BBN Technologies

RTX BBN is seeking a Chief of Staff to support the President and Leadership Team in managing and operating BBN’s leading-edge Science and Technology business. This hybrid role is based in Cambridge, MA, with travel expected to other BBN sites (RI, VA, MD, MN) and company/customer locations.

About the Role

The Chief of Staff will gain first-hand knowledge of BBN’s operations, supporting action management, strategic engagements, and company reviews. This role drives execution of projects to improve BBN’s operations, aligns priorities with business needs, and ensures effective delivery of strategic programs across the organization. The ideal candidate combines strong business acumen, project leadership, analytical thinking, and exceptional communication skills to accelerate innovation and organizational performance. The position reports directly to the BBN President.

Responsibilities

• Work with the BBN President on short- and long-term organizational goals aligned with broader RTX strategies.
• Support, manage, and drive BBN operational reviews, staffing reviews, and engagements with the larger RTX company.
• Manage, develop, analyze, and coordinate staff actions and new operational projects at the BBN Leadership Team (LT) level.
• Lead or support cross-functional working groups and business initiatives.
• Facilitate communication and alignment across the BBN LT to ensure successful execution of business deliverables and initiatives.
• Serve as the BBN President’s representative on enterprise initiatives or programs across RTX.
• Engage with senior and executive business and functional leaders.
• Support BBN strategy decisions and coordinate internal investments.
• Develop and track business and operational metrics to support company growth.
• Create and modify technical and management briefing materials for meetings with RTX leaders, customers, employees, or conferences.
• Monitor business and project progress, intervening to solve problems with project managers, line managers, and clients.
• Provide guidance on expected results and deliverables.
• Identify challenges, support solutions, and drive alignment with BBN business goals in collaboration with leadership and the broader BBN community.
• Lead special projects for the President and leadership team.
• Work closely with BBN Functional Leaders to prepare materials for Strategic Communications, Human Resources, Business Development, Contracts, Program Management, and other areas.
• Other responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or greater in Engineering, Science, Mathematics, or a similar field. Minimum 10 years of prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field with 7+ years of experience.
• Active and transferable U.S. government-issued Secret security clearance required prior to start date; U.S. citizenship is mandatory.
• Experience working on Department of Defense/Intelligence Community Science and Technology (S&T) programs (e.g., DARPA, ONR, AFRL, IARPA, OUSD).
• Experience engaging with senior business leaders and executives.

Preferred Qualifications

• Ability to work autonomously and balance multiple tasks in a highly visible, high-pressure environment.
• Proactively anticipates organizational or operational challenges and applies resources to mitigate issues.
• Program Management, Technical Project Management, Principal Investigator, Finance, or Subcontracts management experience.
• Current Top Secret clearance.
• Experience working with and quickly understanding a broad range of software and hardware technologies.

Schedule

This is a hybrid role. Employees will work regularly both onsite and offsite, with the ratio of onsite time determined in partnership with leadership.

Pay

The salary range for this role is $132,400 – $251,600 USD. The range reflects all experience levels, with final offers considering role, function, responsibilities, work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
