Chief of Staff
About the role
The Electric Plant Co. is building the world’s first plant intelligence platform, decoding electrical signals from plants and providing actionable insights. Founded by two experienced founders, the company combines expertise in botany, neuroscience, AI, and climate. The role involves running the business side of the company while the CEO focuses on strategic thinking.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate finance, people operations, tax, admin, benefits, vendors, and office operations as one system, working across fractional teams and AI agents.
- Be the most sophisticated user of the internal AI operating system for business operations, specifying what it should handle, evaluating its performance, and pushing volume work onto it.
- Own inbound triage, pipeline hygiene, and prospective-customer follow-through, including scheduling and preparing for customer visits.
- Manage investor and external communications logistics, including investor updates and PR and event planning.
- Turn existing sales material into professional customer-facing packages.
Requirements
Experience running business operations end to end at a small company where these functions were fractional or partially covered. Coordination skills with non-reporting staff, comfort with AI agents, and ability to produce customer-facing materials in someone else's voice are essential.
Qualifications
- Track record of coordinating people who don't report to you and getting them to meet deadlines.
- Comfortable with AI agents or automation for operational tasks.
- Experience with inbound triage, pipeline hygiene, or customer-facing logistics in a pre-sales or early commercial setting.
- Ability to hold a founder or senior leader accountable to a deadline while maintaining a strong relationship.
- A history of taking on multiple functions rather than specializing in one area.
- Vendor-, fractional-, and customer-facing day-to-day presence and credibility.
Skills
Strong experience with AI agents or automation for operational tasks, and the ability to produce customer-facing materials in someone else's voice or a company's institutional voice.
Benefits

Pay

Schedule
Full-time, in-person at the Presidio office in San Francisco.
What This Is Not
This role is not for someone looking to author strategy, manage a technical team, or build a permanent empire around one function. It offers flexibility and variety, with the potential to grow into a more specialized role or stay as a generalist.
