Chief of Staff
About the role
The Chief of Staff will run internal strategy and operational execution alongside CurbWaste's founders and leadership team. This is not a support role but a force-multiplier role. The ideal candidate will own systems, cadences, and metrics that enable a fast-scaling company to move faster.
Responsibilities
Strategy & planning: Partner with the CEO on company-wide strategy, translate a broad vision into quarterly priorities, operating plans, and decisions that get made.
Performance management: Design and roll out a performance management framework from the ground up, including goal-setting, review cycles, calibration, and career frameworks.
Departmental KPIs & operating metrics: Establish metrics that matter for each function, build dashboards and reporting cadences, and create a data-driven operating rhythm that surfaces problems early.
AI-enabled operations: Lead how CurbWaste uses AI internally, identify where AI creates real leverage, deploy tooling and workflows, and build an operation that runs leaner and faster.
Cross-functional execution: Drive strategic initiatives that don't have an obvious owner, push execution across the org without formal authority, and make the CEO's job smaller.
Board & investor readiness: Partner with finance on modeling, metrics, and board-level reporting; help prepare for future fundraises.

Who You Are:
- 5-8+ years in high-performing environments, such as top-tier startup operations, Chief of Staff / BizOps / Strategy & Ops, management consulting (MBB or similar), or investment banking with a track record of building and running these systems inside a company that was scaling fast, not just advising from the outside.
- AI-native: Deploy AI in real operational settings and have strong instincts for where it creates leverage and where it doesn't. Think about AI as a lever for how the whole company operates, not a side project.
- Rolled out performance management before: Designed and rolled out performance management frameworks from the ground up, driven adoption across teams.
- Gritty: Comfortable with constant change and shifting priorities, want ownership and impact over prestige and structure, switch between strategic thinking and tactical execution seamlessly, thrive in fast-paced, high-growth environments, want to grow into a VP Operations or COO role as the company scales.
- Build, don't maintain: Created processes and systems from zero, not inherited and preserved them.
- Influence without authority: Exceptional communication and the ability to get cross-functional teams moving in the same direction.
- Analytical: Love diving into data to find insights and turn them into decisions.
- Strongly Preferred: Experience at a high-growth startup through a key scaling phase (Series A → D), exposure across multiple operational functions (finance, people, legal, sales ops), hands-on experience building AI-driven internal tooling or workflows, experience supporting fundraising or board-level reporting, familiarity with the modern startup stack (Ramp, Carta, HubSpot, and modern AI tooling).
