Chief Financial Officer - Construction - Boston's South Shore

About the role

Reporting directly into the CEO, this is a high-impact C-suite leadership role for a rapidly growing construction business based in Boston, MA. The position is designed for a finance leader who can bring structure, rigor, and strategic oversight to support continued expansion while operating in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the finance function, implementing best-practice processes and controls
• Oversee all accounting, reporting, and financial planning activities
• Drive improvements in financial systems, data integrity, and reporting accuracy
• Partner closely with the CEO and senior leadership to support commercial decision-making
• Manage cash flow, forecasting, and working capital effectively
• Support bonding requirements and relationships with external stakeholders
• Provide leadership during continued growth, including potential system enhancements and operational scaling

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree
• CPA – ideal but not essential
• Proven CFO or senior finance leadership experience within the construction or contracting sector
• Strong technical accounting expertise with the ability to operate both strategically and hands-on
• Experience improving and stabilizing finance functions in high-growth or evolving environments
• Confident, resilient, and decisive, with the ability to challenge and influence senior stakeholders
• Comfortable working in a dynamic setting that requires adaptability and ownership
• Strong systems experience, with exposure to construction accounting platforms advantageous

Schedule

• One day per week remote
• Ability to be in-office four days per week

Pay

• Base salary: $240,000 to $250,000
• Performance-related annual bonus scheme (approximately +/- 10%)
