Company Overview

We're working with a private equity firm building a multi-region residential plumbing platform currently generating ~$90M in revenue, on a clear path to well beyond $200M over the next three to five years. The platform owns two operating companies: an anchor business ($37M revenue, low-20% EBITDA margins) that's grown 38% organically in the past year, and a second business ($50-60M revenue, 9% margins) with clear improvement potential across purchasing, leadership, and back office. A third add-on acquisition is already in the pipeline. Each operating company is led by experienced management teams focused on local market execution and project delivery. The sponsor group is seeking a Chief Executive Officer to drive platform integration, synergy capture, and execute a multi-year acquisition strategy targeting platform scale well beyond $200M.

Responsibilities

  • Hold consolidated P&L responsibility for the platform and serve as primary point of accountability to the sponsor, lenders, investors, and board
  • Set platform-level strategy and direction, partnering with the sponsor on M&A strategy, deal structure, and capital deployment
  • Analyze and vet new acquisitions as they enter the fold; pressure-test synergies and integration plans against sponsor and lender expectations
  • Design and execute integration playbooks that capture value in purchasing, leadership, and back office without disrupting local operations
  • Coordinate the operating leaders (who continue to run their markets as GMs) into one cohesive, scalable platform
  • Drive margin expansion at newly acquired businesses through operational efficiency and leadership development

Requirements

  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in plumbing, electrical contracting, HVAC, or comparable trade services, including meaningful P&L responsibility at the C-suite or operating partner level
  • Direct experience operating or scaling a residential construction trade contractor with new construction focus
  • Proven track record in new residential construction, with demonstrated relationships with major national builders (D.R. Horton, Lennar, Taylor Morrison, etc.)
  • Multi-site, multi-state operating experience that has driven organic growth
  • Demonstrated success driving margin improvement through disciplined pricing, labor planning, and procurement
  • Proven ability to build, lead, and integrate high-performing management teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Acquisition integration experience, ideally within a private equity-backed platform
  • New construction plumbing background
  • Experience building out the service department of a new construction organization

Location

This is a remote role with flexible location. The platform operates across multiple regions, so the leader does not need to be based in any particular market. Candidates across the U.S. will be considered. Travel is expected to be roughly 20%, with heavier travel in the first six months to build relationships with operating teams in person. Ongoing travel will be as needed for new acquisitions, seller meetings, and integration activities.

Compensation

Base salary and bonus are competitive for a private equity-backed CEO role, with the ability to earn meaningful equity over time.
