Chief Estimator - Structural Concrete

About the role

Leading concrete contractor in Memphis is seeking a Chief Estimator who will grow into a VP of Estimating as the team expands. The role focuses on estimating concrete work for commercial and industrial projects, managing the bidding process, developing estimating tools and databases, implementing estimating software, maintaining cost history, reviewing awarded bids with construction teams, and building relationships with owners and general contractors. As the estimating team grows, the incumbent will lead development of less experienced estimators. The position entails minimal travel requirements.

Responsibilities

• Estimate from both concept designs and complete designs
• Complete all aspects of project bidding including plan and specification takeoff, pricing, and client communication/follow‑up
• Assist with the development, updating and implementation of an estimating database with assemblies
• Assist or lead the process of implementation of estimating program software system
• Maintain a cost history database
• Review awarded bids with the construction team to ensure budget accuracy and resource allocation
• Interact with owner‑clients and General Contractors to build and maintain relationships
• As the team grows, lead the development efforts for less experienced estimating staff

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction‑related field, or equivalent hands‑on experience with a structural concrete background
• 8+ years of concrete estimating experience
• Exceptional knowledge of cast‑in‑place concrete concepts, processes, and functions
• Hands‑on construction experience is an advantage
• Extremely good communication and team‑building skills
• Desire to grow with the organization and remain local to the Memphis area
