Job Description
The Chief Engineer oversees the functionality and safety of the hotel property, including buildings, mechanical equipment, electrical systems, heating and cooling systems, life safety systems, and grounds. They ensure operational efficiency and safety through directing construction, maintenance, and repair of all systems. The role involves assisting teams, promoting internal growth, and meeting/exceeding company goals and metrics.
- Complete required training
- Adhere to standard operating procedures and property-specific brand standards
- Able to communicate effectively in writing, verbally, and in person
- Able to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Maintain a clean and attractive work area, uniform, and personal appearance
- Maintain knowledge of fire alarm and evacuation procedures
- Test and maintain water content of swimming pool and whirlpool
- Maintain parts and supplies inventory
- Inspect and maintain elevators
- Have knowledge of OSHA procedures and training
- Repair furniture and structures
- Maintain and repair general plumbing systems
- Complete weekly preventative maintenance logs and QA documentation
- Maintain and test life safety systems
- Assign, verify, and document completion of routine maintenance and repairs
- Communicate with city/county/state officials for permit maintenance, inspections, and compliance
- Lead special projects as needed
- Assist in monitoring and developing team member performance
- Discuss bids with General Manager and oversee contracted work
- Direct and oversee facility functionality and safety
- Inspect and direct construction, installation, and maintenance of all systems
Necessary Skills
- Bend, reach, kneel, push, and stretch
- Lift and/or carry up to 25 pounds
- Perform work for 8 hours
- Comfortable using a step stool or ladder
- Handle heat and stress
- Work in varying weather conditions
- Use fingers for operating equipment
