Chief Engineer

About the role

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the engineering department on a small freight ship, operating Caterpillar 3412's and 50 cycle Caterpillar generators.

Responsibilities

• Manage the engineering department
• Operate Caterpillar 3412's and 50 cycle Caterpillar generators
• Rotate between sea-side and shore-side maintenance
• Paid travel to and from vessel

Requirements

• USCG License with Chief Engineer of any horsepower or Designated Duty Engineer of any horsepower (unlimited waters)
• STCW Basic Training
• STCW Medical Certificate
• Engine Room Officers in Charge of an Engineering Watch - STCW III/1
• Chief Engineer - STCW III/2
• Proficiency in Survival Craft - STCW IV/1 (Lifeboatman)
• Advanced Firefighting - STCW VI/3
• Medical First Aid - STCW VI/4
• Security Awareness - STCW VI/6
• TWIC
• Passport
• Valid Driver's License
• International Travel Vaccine Record
• Able to travel 30 to 60 days a trip
• Minimum of 5 years of ocean sailing experience
• Minimum of 2 years as Chief Engineer
• Experience with Safety Management systems

Qualifications

Must be found fit for duty per United States Coast Guard or International mariner physical fitness requirements for employment.
