Chief Engineer

About the role

The successful candidate will be responsible for operating and maintaining a small freight ship, specifically familiar with Caterpillar 3412's and 50 cycle Caterpillar generators.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain small freight ships
• Familiarity with Caterpillar 3412's and 50 cycle Caterpillar generators
• Paid travel to and from vessel
• Rotating trips and shore side maintenance

Requirements

• USCG License with Chief Engineer of any horsepower or Designated Duty Engineer of any horsepower (unlimited waters)
• STCW Basic Training
• STCW Medical Certificate
• Engine Room Officers in Charge of an Engineering Watch - STCW III/1
• Chief Engineer - STCW III/2
• Proficiency in Survival Craft - STCW IV/1 (Lifeboatman)
• Advanced Firefighting - STCW VI/3
• Medical First Aid - STCW VI/4
• Security Awareness - STCW VI/6
• TWIC
• Passport
• Valid Driver's License
• International Travel Vaccine Record
• Able to travel 30 to 60 days a trip

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of ocean sailing experience
• Minimum of 2 years as Chief Engineer
• Experience with Safety Management systems

Skills

• Hands-on approach to engineering
• Experience with Caterpillar engines
• Ability to operate and maintain ships
