Chief Engineer

About the role

The Chief Engineer will serve as a key member of the AFRCO team, providing critical support for testing and evaluation, and driving the development and fielding of advanced software and hardware systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive systems engineering support, including complex design and delivery
• Support DoD Service organizations and Intelligence Community agencies
• Lead and manage engineering teams in conceiving, planning, and conducting research and analysis for complex technological problems
• Perform technical/mission analyses of operational requirements, develop system concepts, and conduct technological/trade-off studies
• Find innovative ways to evolve and improve AFRCO systems

Requirements

• At least ten years of experience providing systems engineering work
• At least five years of experience supporting DoD Service organizations and/or Intelligence Community agencies
• At least ten years of experience managing an engineering team

Desired Experience

• Five years of experience with rapid prototyping or development
• Five years of experience with T&E activities
• Five years of experience identifying, developing, and applying multiple technology sources

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Systems, Information Technology, or a closely-related Engineering or IT discipline
• Proven ability to solve problems creatively
• Strong familiarity with project management software tools, methodologies, and best practices
• Experience seeing projects through the full life cycle
• Excellent analytical skills
• Strong interpersonal skills and resourcefulness
• Proven ability to complete projects according to outlined scope, budget, and timeline
• Knowledge and experience in accrediting and operating secure information systems at multiple levels, to include secure networking and deployment to secure cloud computing environments

• Knowledge of and experience with complex engineering designs and delivery
• Experience with leading and supervising technical teams
• Experience with multiple technology sources and applications
• Experience with multiple engineering technology systems and data flow

Benefits

Salary range based on knowledge, skills, and abilities: $175,000 - $240,000. The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, abilities and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.
