Assists the General Manager in ensuring all areas of the hotel remain properly functional. Performs repairs and preventative maintenance work to maintain hotel maintenance quality standards. Provides excellent guest service in an efficient, courteous, and professional manner while adhering to guidelines and procedures.
Prerequisites
Company associates have access to guestrooms and property, so honesty and trustworthiness are essential. Potential associates must pass appropriate security clearances.
- Working knowledge of preventative maintenance, electricity, AC, and plumbing
- Five to ten years as a maintenance engineer, technician, or similar position
- HVAC and Pool Certification preferred
Essential Job Functions
- Perform major life activities: standing, lifting, bending, learning, reading, concentrating, thinking, and communicating
- Push or pull 100 pounds unassisted and lift and/or carry 60 pounds unassisted
- Stand for eight hours, bend, stretch, reach, climb ladders, crawl, kneel, and work low to the ground for extended periods
- Communicate effectively with associates and guests
- See and hear clearly
Requirements
Knowledge
- Methods, practices, tools, equipment, and materials used in building and mechanical trades
- Occupational hazards of power tools and equipment, including necessary safety precautions
- Repairs and maintenance of hotel furniture and fixtures
- Safety and security measures; report or correct hazardous conditions immediately
- Guidelines for training checklists of areas to be maintained
- Procedures for emergencies
Skills
- Supervise, perform, and document preventative maintenance programs according to company and brand standards
- Maintain logs, bibles, and checklists on schedule
- Perform preventative maintenance, repairs, and general maintenance on property grounds
- Use and care for hand and power tools appropriate to the area
- Assist with guest issues professionally while maintaining a hospitable attitude

Responsibilities
- Walk property grounds regularly to oversee facility functioning
- Interview and select new maintenance staff
- Oversee maintenance staff, including discipline and retraining as needed
- Diagnose malfunctions in mechanical equipment and determine corrective measures
- Perform minor repairs to plumbing, electrical, refrigeration, kitchen equipment, and HVAC systems
- Maintain facility using preventative maintenance guidelines for plumbing, electrical, and building systems
- Conduct quality inspections and recommend safety, security, and facility improvements
- Respond to work orders in a timely manner
- Train maintenance staff and designated associates in responsibilities and safety
- Maintain all paperwork according to company standards
- Help determine necessary tools, materials, and equipment for property maintenance
- Ensure maintenance staff have sufficient tools to perform their jobs daily
- Perform all other duties within physical capabilities
Working Conditions
- Physical presence at the hotel is required; not conducive to telecommuting or remote work
- Standing and walking for long periods while maintaining a professional image
- May work outdoors in heat or cold for extended periods
- May work any shift, including nights and weekends
- Periodic overnight travel may be required
