Chief Dispatch Instructor
About the role
The Chief Dispatcher Instructor develops and leads all training and development programs for FAA and other global CAA licensed dispatchers. This role involves curriculum development and deployment, instructing, supervising training staff, recruiting students, and ensuring all training meets compliance and industry standards.
Responsibilities
- Provides instruction or acts as a backup instructor for all training classes to ensure compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
- Manages and updates the Jeppesen Policies and Procedures Manual and other SOPs to ensure all customers and instructors meet company and regulatory standards.
- Teaches and qualifies new instructors, along with providing direction and daily oversight, training, and mentorship of all training instructors.
- Organizes and coordinates all training schedules and ensures proper coverage.
- Ensures all courses are delivered with updated instructor courseware, student materials, in-class supplemental materials, hand-outs, etc.
- Manages and maintains all training and certification records for training programs.
- Manages new customer sales leads, registration, billing, and other customer support services as required.
- Measures and improves customer satisfaction of courses delivered.
- Manages office environment, courseware updates, and develops new courseware, as required.
- Provides regular reporting on all activities to management.
- Proposes, designs, and develops new training products and services for or in coordination with Jeppesen departmental management.
- Collaborates with departmental management on sales growth strategies and creation/execution of new marketing, advertising, and sales campaigns.
- Safeguards that each course's profit and budget meet collective business unit goals.
- Travels to key customers and strategic sales locations, tradeshows, events, etc., to increase training sales (up to 40% travel).
- Serves as a liaison with governmental oversight, external partners, customers, and accreditation bodies.
Qualifications
- A minimum of three to four years of experience as a dispatcher, with some time spent in an Airline 121 environment preferred.
- Holds an FAA Aircraft Dispatcher certificate (Part 65).
- Expertise in teaching ground school on ATP/Dispatcher fundamentals and advanced operator subjects (ETOPS, Driftdown, advanced meteorology, human factors, etc.).
- Robust experience using digital flight planning tools like Jeppesen and ForeFlight Dispatch.
- Expertise in utilizing industry-accepted teaching principles and advanced instructional techniques.
- Experience developing courses using modern instructional design and tooling to provide training both in-person and in hybrid environments.
- Ability to supervise, mentor, and evaluate the performance of instructors, and to provide effective guidance during high-stress situations.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills to deliver clear instructions, provide feedback, and communicate effectively with people under stress.
- Willingness to work rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays, to accommodate training commitments.
- Proficiency with digital training platforms, LMS systems, and virtual classroom tools.
- Comfortable working in both physical and online classroom environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Expertise in teaching 14 CFR Part 121 airline dispatchers or global equivalents.
- Expert in teaching 14 CFR Part 65 aircraft certification courses.
- Experience seeking FAA and other global CAA regulatory approvals for certification of training programs.
- Experience using or acting as a school official for SEVP/SEVIS and VA is a plus.
- Pilot or aviation enthusiast.

Pay and Benefits
Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. Summary Pay Range: $120,000-150,000
