Chief Development Officer
About the role
The Chief Development Officer will serve as a key member of the executive leadership team and lead the organization’s enterprise growth and expansion strategy. Reporting directly to the CEO, this executive will oversee all corporate development activities, including mergers and acquisitions, market expansion, strategic partnerships, and de novo growth initiatives.
Position Overview
This is a highly strategic and operational leadership role designed for an experienced healthcare executive who can build and scale a sophisticated development function within a rapidly growing, private equity-backed organization. The Chief Development Officer will partner closely with executive leadership, operational leaders, and private equity sponsors to identify and execute opportunities that accelerate growth, expand market presence, and enhance enterprise value.
Key Responsibilities
Enterprise Growth Strategy
- Partner with the CEO, executive leadership team, and private equity sponsors to define and execute the organization’s long-term growth strategy
- Lead development of the company’s acquisition, market expansion, and de novo growth roadmap across targeted geographies and service lines
- Evaluate market trends, competitive dynamics, reimbursement changes, and strategic opportunities to inform growth priorities
- Serve as a strategic advisor to executive leadership on enterprise growth initiatives, investment opportunities, and organizational scalability
Mergers & Acquisitions Leadership
- Lead all aspects of the company’s M&A strategy and execution, including sourcing, valuation, due diligence, negotiation, and transaction execution
- Build and scale a best-in-class corporate development function, including processes, infrastructure, reporting, and talent
- Develop and maintain relationships with founders, advisors, investment bankers, private equity sponsors, and industry stakeholders
- Oversee acquisition pipeline management and ensure disciplined evaluation of investment opportunities
- Partner closely with finance, operations, legal, clinical, and integration teams throughout the transaction lifecycle
Strategic Expansion & Integration
- Lead strategic market expansion efforts across existing and new geographies
- Oversee evaluation and execution of de novo growth opportunities in partnership with operational leadership
- Ensure effective integration planning and value creation execution for acquired businesses
- Partner with operational and financial leadership to monitor acquisition performance and drive post-close optimization initiatives
- Help establish scalable frameworks and best practices that support long-term organizational growth

Qualifications
12+ years of experience in healthcare corporate development, investment banking, private equity, or executive leadership roles focused on growth and M&A
Significant healthcare services transaction experience required; home health, hospice, behavioral health, or post-acute care experience strongly preferred
Demonstrated success leading complex acquisitions and enterprise growth strategies in PE-backed or high-growth organizations
Strong transaction execution, valuation, financial modeling, and strategic analysis capabilities
Experience building or scaling a corporate development or M&A function preferred
Proven ability to partner effectively with executive leadership teams, boards, and private equity investors
MBA or other advanced degree strongly preferred
