Chief CRNA

Responsibilities

• Provides administrative leadership for all staff CRNAs.
• Completes initial competency review for new CRNAs.
• Ledges dynamic recruitment of CRNAs to maintain adequate staffing patterns.
• Serves as sounding board for CRNA concerns and brings them to the attention of the Chief Clinical Coordinator.
• Coordinates annual reviews for CRNAs and provides in-person feedback.
• Attends and co-leads meetings with Chair and Program Administrator, including requests from the CRNA group.
• Selects and supervises coordinators for rotating SRNAs and serves as Crew Chief “CC”.
• Mentors all CRNAs and SRNAs, as well as nurses interested in becoming CRNAs.
• Schedules CRNAs to work off shifts and provides coverage for residents.
• Works with administration to approve paperwork for non-employee shadows.
• Communicates updates, changes, and issues to the CRNA group.
• Functions as main point of contact for CRNAs and liaison to Department Leadership.
• Schedules regular meetings of CRNA group.
• Communicates with locum companies to ensure staffing needs are met.
• Communicates with perioperative nursing leadership to identify areas of improvement.
• Communicates with Human Resource Business Partner as needed to ensure compliance with hospital policies.
• Completes paperwork to obtain CEU credits for Thursday morning conferences.
• Ensures supplies in the CRNA office.
• Participates in Executive Committee and Anesthesia & Peri-Operative Services Committee.
• Reviews department finances, needs, workflow, and efficiencies.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved school of nursing.
• Graduate of a school of nurse anesthesia, accredited by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (Dept. of H.E.W. authorized accrediting agent).
• Current A.A.N.A. membership, active practicing category required.
