Job Description

  • Manages nursing anesthesia services in a service area ensuring compliance with Joint Commission standards, policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Coordinates patient care delivery among departments such as pain service, pharmacy, laboratory, Labor & Delivery, and perioperative care.
  • Supports family and member centered care.
  • Guides staff in meeting emergent and urgent patient needs.
  • Maintains staff competencies for patient safety.
  • Plans and coordinates adequate CRNA staffing based on patient acuity and competencies.
  • Hires, terminates, trains, and evaluates staff.
  • Develops and implements strategic plans with the Chief of Anesthesia.
  • Reviews and updates department policy to support care delivery and compliance.
  • Represents anesthesia service line in committee workgroups and meetings.
  • Develops performance metrics for performance improvement, service standards, and quality goals.
  • Monitors and manages operational budget for payroll and non-payroll expenses, capital planning, and resources.
  • Strategizes and establishes effective channels for supply and equipment utilization.

Qualifications

  • Minimum six (6) months supervisory experience required.
  • Graduated from an accredited school of anesthesia.
  • Registered Nurse License (California) required at hire.
  • Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (California) required at hire.
  • Basic Life Support.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support.
  • Strong communications skills and knowledge of regulatory requirements.
  • Track record of following precautionary and preventive measures.
  • Proven record of care delivery and sound clinical judgement.
  • Ability to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.
