About the role

The New York Police Department is seeking a high-level executive to serve as Chief Analytics Officer (CAO), responsible for leading the Department’s data science, business intelligence, and analytics strategy. The CAO will focus on turning complex data into actionable operational insights and setting strategic analytical priorities. With broad latitude to review the Department’s analytics strategy, the Chief Analytics Officer will work across bureaus to optimize how analytics and tools are used, review existing tools to ensure they meet the Department’s needs, partner with IT teams on current and future products, de-silo data-related insights, and ensure bureaus’ data analytic needs are met.

Responsibilities

  • Build and guide the enterprise vision for data science, predictive modeling, and business intelligence.
  • Develop processes and data visualization that can be interpreted without a technical background.
  • Work closely with the Deputy Commissioner for Strategic Initiatives to translate data into measurable goals and objectives that support the Department’s mission.
  • Manage multidisciplinary teams of data scientists and analysts.
  • Collaborate with the Deputy Commissioner of the Information Technology Bureau/Chief Information Officer (CIO) to design functional data platforms and reporting tools.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Business, or a closely related field (Master’s or MBA preferred).
  • 10+ years managing analytics, data science, or statistical operations in a leadership capacity in City government and/or law enforcement.
  • Experience leveraging data insights to develop and implement data strategies and policies.

Skills

  • Advanced expertise in machine learning, statistical modeling, data architecture, and modern cloud platforms.
  • Executive-level communication, change management, and cross-functional leadership.

Pay

$135,392.00 – $285,577.00
