Charyl Stockwell Preparatory Academy, located in Brighton, is a public school academy serving approximately 1,200 students from Kindergarten through High School. About the role
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated High School Chemistry/Physics Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will inspire students through engaging lesson plans, hands-on experiments, and a strong commitment to fostering a positive learning environment.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans that meet curriculum standards and cater to diverse learning styles.
- Deliver curriculum covering key concepts in chemistry, including atomic structure, chemical bonding, reactions, stoichiometry, and thermodynamics.
- Organize and conduct laboratory experiments aligned with the curriculum and safety protocols.
- Ensure all materials and equipment are maintained and properly handled.
- Develop assessments and monitor student performance through tests, quizzes, projects, labs, and presentations.
- Collaborate with colleagues to align curricula and participate in ongoing professional development initiatives.
- Participate in school activities, meetings, and events to contribute to the overall mission of the institution.
- Maintain a safe and positive environment for all students.
- Maintain effective communication with students, parents, and school staff.
- Ensure regular and predictable attendance.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Physics, Education, or a related field.
- Valid Michigan teaching certification/license for secondary education with an endorsement in the subject (DX or both endorsements a plus).
- Strong understanding of chemistry concepts and ability to convey complex information in an accessible manner.
Skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in planning and assessing educational activities.
