Chemistry Medical Technologist – 2nd Shift

As a Medical Laboratory Technologist at IDEXX, you perform laboratory testing that helps veterinarians diagnose and treat pets. Responsibilities

• Use automated analyzers, microscopes, and other laboratory diagnostic tools to perform analyses and tests that diagnose animal illnesses, injuries, and diseases in support of veterinarian animal treatment.
• Perform diagnostic tests on blood, urine, fecal, or pet biopsy samples received in the lab by the thousands daily.
• Set up and run lab tests, then read and release results according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Specialize in Chemistry; work in Chemistry Production from 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm and perform Chemistry Maintenance from 6:00 pm - 11:30 pm.
• If time permits, assist with additional department/analyzer start-up/maintenance, Sample Management data entry, and/or department production.

Requirements

• Extensive (2-3+ years) experience working with a Beckman AU5800 Chemistry Analyzer.
• Advanced Training in Beckman AU5800 Troubleshooting preferred.
• Medical Laboratory Technician or Technologist (MLT or MT) education and experience preferred.
• ASCP Certification is a plus.
• Positive attitude and ability to bring energy into the lab to support colleagues.
• Strong teamwork orientation and sense of responsibility.
• Attention to detail and ability to work reliably and precisely.
• Able to meet physical requirements: standing and sitting for extended periods, phone and computer use, extended reach, lifting up to 50 lbs, and specific vision abilities (close, color, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus).
• Potential exposure to biohazards, agents known to cause zoonotic diseases, and hazardous chemicals.

Schedule

Monday – Friday, 3:00 pm - 11:30 pm. From 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm, you will work in Chemistry Production. From 6:00 pm - 11:30 pm, you will perform Chemistry Maintenance. Reliable and dependable attendance is an essential function of the position.
