Chemist I
Key responsibilities
- Perform pharmaceutical testing including, but not limited to, HPLC, GC, TLC, UV, dissolution and IR spectroscopy.
- Demonstrate ability to understand and perform testing in accordance with all pertinent SOPs and lab practices.
- Critically evaluate and audit data.
- Write technical analytical reports and procedures.
- Perform routine testing with a senior level mentor analyst.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum qualifications
- A minimum of a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) and 0-2 years of experience.
- Knowledge of analytical chemistry, pharmaceutical industry practice, and health authority regulations and guidances.
- Strong analytical laboratory skills.
- Strong communication and reading skills.
- Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Excel.
- Ability to operate a computer based data acquisition system for chromatography.
- Ability to multi-task to work on multiple projects at the same time.
- Ability to read and interpret complex business and/or technical documents.
- Ability to write comprehensive reports and detailed business correspondence.
- Ability to work with groups of people such as other departments and communicate known concepts.
- Ability to present to a group of departments.
- Ability to perform computations such as percentages, ratios, and rates.
- Ability to solve problems with a variety of concrete variables through semi-standardized solutions that require some ingenuity and analysis.
- Ability to draw inferences and follow prescribed and detailed procedures to solve moderately complex problems.
- Typically sitting at a desk or table. Intermittently sitting, standing, walking, or stooping. May be required to bend; kneel; and climb steps. May require use of hands and use of arms. Light lifting requirements. Normal laboratory situation.
- Intermittent exposure to chemicals, solvents, fumes, and/or gasses. Works with poor ventilation or with regular exposure to odors.
- Proficiency in speaking, comprehending, reading and writing English is required.
