About the role
The Technical Manufacturing Chemist I at Abbott Rapid Diagnostics supports production schedules, performs quality control testing, and contributes to process improvements in a regulated laboratory manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Support and maintain manufacturing production schedules.
- Manufacture critical and non-critical bioreagents according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Perform in-process quality control testing, including qualifications, inspections, and titrations.
- Maintain compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
- Investigate production issues and identify opportunities for process improvements.
- Develop, create, and execute protocols focused on product and process enhancement.
- Cook up manufacturing activities within a team environment to ensure uninterrupted production and bioreagent supply.
- Document manufacturing activities accurately and maintain required records.
- Absorb inventory and raw material availability to support production demands.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Life Sciences, or a related scientific discipline; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Technical Skills & Experience: Experience with pipetting techniques, spectrophotometry, HPLC, pH meter operation, gel electrophoresis, SDS-PAGE, ELISA assays.
- Competencies: Ability to work effectively both independently and within a collaborative team environment; strong attention to detail and commitment to quality; excellent organizational and problem-solving skills; ability to follow detailed procedures and maintain accurate documentation; proficiency with computer applications, including Microsoft Excel or similar spreadsheet software, database systems, manufacturing software systems, word processing applications.
