About the role
The Chemist I role will have responsibility for performing a variety of routine and non-routine tasks in a regulated laboratory environment in order to support, as well as help develop, analytical chemistry platforms. The Chemist I will work in conformance with company policies and current Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), regulatory requirements and standards to meet quality and accuracy requirements.
Responsibilities
- Complies with all quality system requirements.
- Performs preparation, collection, measurement and recordkeeping of samples.
- Documents test and data analysis results.
- Participates on cross-functional teams for continuous improvement activities.
- Communicates with team members to ensure schedule requirements are met.
- Applies knowledge of performed tasks to elucidate test method failures.
- Analyzes and deduces data and collates test results.
- Communicates priority and timeliness for completion of customer requests.
- Supports development area as needed / commercial QC release.
- Learns and understands the manufacturing organization that the lab supports.
Requirements
- Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology, material science, or related technical discipline with 0 years of experience.
- Nice to have: Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology or related technical discipline with one year of laboratory experience.
- Experience with chromatography software (Empower).
- Microsoft Word and Excel skills.
- The ability to work in a laboratory with solvents and pharmaceutical substances.
- General wet chemistry laboratory techniques and/or experience with liquid chromatography (UPLC/HPLC), gas chromatography (GC), Karl Fischer, and FT-IR, UV-Vis.
Qualifications
- Must have a bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology or related technical discipline with one year of laboratory experience.
- General wet chemistry laboratory techniques and/or experience with liquid chromatography (UPLC/HPLC), gas chromatography (GC), Karl Fischer, and FT-IR, UV-Vis.
- Experience with chromatography software (Empower).
- Microsoft Word and Excel skills.
- The ability to work in a laboratory with solvents and pharmaceutical substances.
- Strong technical ability, experience with equipment set up, and troubleshooting skills.
Skills
- Knowledge of performed tasks to elucidate test method failures.
- Ability to analyze and deduce data and collate test results.
- Effective communication skills to communicate priority and timeliness for completion of customer requests.
- Ability to learn and understand the manufacturing organization that the lab supports.
