About the role
The WDTC Chemist I is responsible for generating and obtaining data, evaluating data, defining problems, and designing experiments in a chemical agent or simulant environment. The role requires proficiency in gas chromatography, spectroscopy, or other analytical instrumentation, and the ability to diagnose and correct instrumentation problems.
Responsibilities
- Work with or around highly toxic materials.
- Operate and repair analytical instrumentation (primarily Gas/liquid chromatographs and mass spectroscopy).
- Diagnose and correct instrumentation problems identified by QC procedures and/or analysis of data.
- Implement methodology as directed from more experienced staff.
- Record data accurately and follow QA/QC procedures.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in microbiology, biochemistry, molecular biology, or related life science.
- At least two (2) years of postgraduate laboratory experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).
- Excellent PC skills, including database entry/management (e.g. Windows OS, Access, MS Office Suite).
- Self-initiative and ability to work independently.
- Ability to prioritize, schedule, and organize work.
Qualifications
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must achieve and maintain certification in required subject areas.

Pay
$55,000 - $65,000 annually, in addition to a comprehensive benefits package.
Schedule
This position may be required to work a schedule of rotating shifts (8-12 hours nominally), including weekends and holidays.
