About the role

The Chemist position at Eurofins Environment Testing America involves preparing and analyzing environmental samples using various testing methods. This role requires adherence to Eurofins Environment Testing Quality Assurance programs and standard operating procedures. The Chemist must validate and review data for accuracy through Level I reviews and upload laboratory data into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) to generate data packages for clients.

Responsibilities

  • Performs routine lab tasks to gain familiarity with methods, practices, and programs.
  • Batches and preps samples for analysis considering special and varied client and quality assurance requirements.
  • Makes reagents for sample analysis.
  • Aliquots extracted samples to maximize laboratory productivity.
  • Prepares appropriate standards to ensure compliant data.
  • Operates, calibrates, and maintains laboratory instruments.
  • Determines appropriate routine and complex analysis methods for a wide variety of samples.
  • Maintains logbooks and refrigerator temperature logs.
  • Performs safety inspections in areas.
  • Performs Level I review of data produced to ensure accuracy.
  • Maintains other documentation as required.
  • Uploads data into LIMS system for review.
  • Maintains refrigerator temperatures.
  • Follows and learns appropriate protocols in one or more of the following disciplines: Organic preparation, Metals preparation and analysis, Gas Chromatography, Mass Spectrometry, Radio Chemistry, Wet Chemistry, High Resolution preparation and analysis, Low Resolution preparation and analysis.
  • Inventories and stocks laboratory supplies.
  • Washes and inventories glassware.
  • Writes / reviews client-ready complex NCM’s.
  • Purges analyzed samples.
  • Aids in training new analysts on laboratory procedures.
  • Aids in other areas of laboratory when needed.

Qualifications

  • Basic Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry or related field, or equivalent relevant experience in the field.
  • Professional working proficiency in English is a requirement, including the ability to read, write and speak in English.
  • Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship.
  • Ideal Candidates Will Have BS in Chemistry Analytical Chemistry coursework.
  • Strong computer, scientific, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) and attention to detail.
  • Previous experience in a lab setting.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, self-motivation, adaptability, and a positive attitude.
  • Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, keep accurate records, follow instructions, and comply with company policies.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify issues, analyze root causes, and propose practical solutions.
  • Applies critical thinking to evaluate options and make decisions.
  • Effective collaborator who contributes to team goals and supports department productivity goals.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Comfortable using mathematical formulas and tools to perform calculations and analyze data.
  • Able to work independently, following written or verbal instructions with minimal oversight.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; able to coordinate tasks and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
