About the role
Polynt is a major producer of Composites and Coating resins, seeking a chemist to work in-person in the Carpentersville, IL Coatings R&D group.
Responsibilities
- Create master data in SAP for new Coatings Products at select Manufacturing Sites following the global master data process in SAP, including reviewing formulas, manufacturing instructions, inspection plans, and all other pertinent information for accuracy prior to entry.
- Complete assigned synthesis-related projects covering multiple coatings application areas, including both architectural and industrial markets.
- Develop new products, modify existing products to meet customer needs, and provide technical and manufacturing support.
- Interface with Customers, Sales, Manufacturing, Technical Service, Procurement, and other synthesis groups.
- Generate technical reports, invention disclosures, presentations, and product literature.
- Up to 10% travel to support customers and manufacturing.
Qualifications
- BS in Chemistry with 0 to 2 years of synthesis experience in developing Alkyd, Saturated Polyester, Solvent-borne Urethanes, or Solution Acrylic for the coatings market.
- Strong structure-property understanding.
- Innovative thinking and technical accomplishments, utilizing analytical tools, technical knowledge, data, and statistical tools to solve technical challenges and enhance chemistries and process development.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills for a team environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Word, and SAP preferred.
