Chemical Technician II

This position is part of the Bulk Chemical Manufacturing Department located in Ames, Iowa and will be on-site.

Responsibilities

In this role, a typical day will look like:

• Manufacture bulk solutions, bulk powders, microbiological media and dyes.
• Use existing formularies to manufacture bulk reagents per work order.
• Perform production controls and adjust bulk reagents to meet product specifications and ensure quality.
• Release conforming materials to processing, packaging or stock in a timely manner.
• Operate all manufacturing equipment in a safe and productive manner.
• Maintain clean production and lab area to eliminate contamination.
• Maintain production equipment in proper working condition.
• Follow a production schedule and communicate with leadership and down-stream pack lines when roadblocks occur.
• Comply with company safety policies including safe operation of equipment, PPE usage, safe transportation and handling of bulk chemicals, hand tool safety, lock-out-tag-out, and proper storage of tools, etc.
• Comply with good housekeeping policies.
• Maintain accurate records.
• Keep accurate production and inventory records, follow kanban process.
• Accurately perform required computer data entry and work order transactions (LOTS, scrap, Oracle, Kanban).
• Identify continuous improvement opportunities.

Requirements

• 1 year of completed college chemistry with lab required.
• 1 year scientific production, process, or lab technician experience required or Bachelor of Science degree in lieu of experience required.

Pay

The compensation range for this role is $27.00 - $27.00 USD per hour. This job is also eligible for Bonus Pay.

Schedule

Monday through Friday from 6:00 am to 2:00 pm.
