Chemical Technician II

About the role

The Chemical Technician II plays a crucial role in Intertek Nutraceutical Services' laboratory, assisting chemists in identifying and quantifying various molecules. This position offers significant growth potential for candidates who are hardworking, conscientious, and skilled in problem-solving.

Responsibilities

• Plans, performs, and completes projects under direct supervision
• Independently sets up, adjusts, operates, and calibrates laboratory equipment and instruments, including HPLC
• Performs data analysis
• Conducts technical assessments
• Uses data acquisition software and instrument operating software (e.g., Turbochrom, Cerity, WinLab)
• Familiarizes with standard concepts, practices, procedures, and regulations
• Works under general supervision, demonstrating independence and judgement in completing tasks

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, or a related scientific field
• At least 2 years of related industry experience in an analytical laboratory
• Knowledge of analytical chemistry and HPLC operation
• Understanding of laboratory safety protocols and the ability to handle hazardous agents/reagents, chemicals, and materials
• Excellent organizational, communication, and analytical skills
• Intermediate mathematical skills, including algebraic functions, statistics, and basic geometry
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
• Ability to work varied and extended hours/days, as business dictates
