Chemical Process Technician II

About the role

As a Chemical Process Technician II, you will clean, treat, and plate a variety of components, inspect work using gauges, scales, and visual inspection, and prepare, maintain, and properly dispose of hazardous solutions according to RCRA guidelines. You will also perform minor equipment repairs, regular maintenance on plating department baths and waste processing tanks, and monitor and analyze baths.

Responsibilities

• Plate, clean, and treat components in accordance with verbal or written process instructions; teach the plating process to other employees.
• Maintain written documentation and records of operations as required by the supervisor and ISO-9001 guidelines.
• Assist supervisor in writing new parts processing instructions.
• Mix chemicals and solutions according to written documentation.
• Operate material and plating analyzing equipment to inspect work by measurement, appearance, or gauging.
• Move and maintain chemical supplies and hazardous waste in containers up to 55 gallons.
• Make necessary adjustments to equipment to ensure quality products.
• Write work orders when plating equipment requires maintenance or repair.
• Analyze process solutions and make additions as required by chemical analysis.
• Assist with wastewater treatment monitors and controls.
• Maintain compliance with company policies, safety standards, and good housekeeping practices.
• During idle times, fill in for other departments as needed and perform aqueous degreasing operations.

Requirements

• Good math skills and ability to understand and implement safe chemical handling.
• 3-5 years’ experience in plating and cleaning operations.
• Experience with copper, nickel, and silver plating.
• Experience with wastewater treatment systems is desirable.
• Knowledge of chemical and material processes.
• Safety-oriented with previous hazardous waste and chemical training.
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs and stand for extended periods.
• Must wear required protective clothing, boots, and other safety equipment.
• Works with hazardous substances (chemical waste, acids, caustics, cyanides, and toxic substances).
• Degreed individual preferred.

Pay

$24-29 per hour plus incentive.
