Chemical Operator - LAB Technician (3rd shift)
Summary of the Role
Provide support to the production department by maintaining the chemistry quality to designed engineering standards for our plating tanks at Hohman Plating.
Essential Duties
- Maintains established chemical limits for plating tanks
- Transfers & adds chemicals to buckets and tanks/baths based on schedule
- Changes filters and anodes based on schedule
- Dumps, cleans and replaces chemicals in tanks/baths
- Wears and maintains proper PPE as defined by department
- Adequately computer skills for data entry and electronic sign off (Microsoft Office Skills)
- Loads and unloads materials using forklift
- Make-up temporary tanks for special processes
- Be responsible for completing all scheduled items within plating cell
- Inspects tanks/baths daily to ensure no leaks, tanks are topped off to a specified level
- Identifies out of tolerance readings and notifies Lab Supervisor of any out of specification results
- Maintain 5s/Lean concepts established company-wide & by department
- Perform weekly scheduled audits of 5’s within Solution Control Departments
- Maintain equipment: by inspections before and after use and generating repair work orders as needed
- Ability to communicate and perform in a fast paced team environment
- Perform other duties as assigned
Education, Skills & Experience
- High School Diploma or GED preferred
- Prior experience with chemical solutions, fluid handling systems or waste water treatment systems preferred
- Strong problem solving abilities with a focus on attention to detail
- Must pass forklift certification
Physical Demands
- Regularly stand, use hands to handle or examine parts, reach with hands and arms
- Frequently walk, use stairs, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch
- Sit, talk or hear occasionally
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Close vision, color vision, and depth perception required
Work Environment
- Frequent exposure to dangerous chemicals, including exposure to fumes or airborne particles below OSHA permissible limits
- Frequent exposure to high heat and humid conditions
- Frequent exposure to loud sounds, below the OSHA permissible limits

Qualifications
Position hours after 60-90 days of 1st shift training are 11pm - 7:30am Sunday through Friday morning.
