JOB SUMMARY
The Chemical Operator is responsible for manufacturing chemical products while ensuring compliance with company policies. Key responsibilities include:
- Incorporating safety and quality into every decision
- Effectively communicating with Supervisor and peers
- Operating chemical processes and equipment safely
- Seeking and implementing process improvements
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties include overseeing process operations, adhering to safety protocols, maintaining equipment, and supporting overall facility operations.
- Oversee safe and efficient operation of assigned processes
- Apply plant safety rules and work guidelines
- Wear and maintain personal protective equipment
- Develop and apply process improvements
Daily Responsibilities
- Complete walk-throughs of process and equipment for safety and housekeeping
- Perform quality assurance checks
- Adjust formulations to meet product specifications
- Auxiliary tasks such as loading and unloading trailers, completing Certificates of Compliance, and maintaining paperwork
- Participate in Daily Management practices
- Complete maintenance tasks and inspect equipment
Minimum Qualifications
- Planning skills to prioritize daily operations
- Paying attention to detail
- Knowledge of chemical manufacturing and equipment
- Dependability, flexibility, and responsiveness
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong analytical and mathematical abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to obtain Fork Lift certification within 30 days of hire
- Ability to learn the chemical operator position within 60 days of hire
Education
A High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
Experience
- Chemical, pharmaceutical, or food manufacturing experience preferred
- Chemical manufacturing experience
- Prior Forklift driving experience
Essential Functions
- Participation in site respirator program, passing Spirometry test, and wearing respiratory protection as required
- Routinely lifting up to 75 lbs. throughout the shift
- Routinely standing for up to 80% of the shift
- Routinely traversing the site to various buildings
- Routinely traversing ship ladders, catwalks, and close quarters
- Working at elevated platforms without hesitation or fear
- Working inside confined spaces as needed
