Chemical Operator

Position Summary

We are seeking motivated Chemical Operators to join a growing manufacturing operation in Cincinnati, OH. This is a hands-on production role responsible for safely operating chemical processing equipment, monitoring production systems, documenting process data, and ensuring products are manufactured in accordance with safety, quality, and environmental standards.

Qualified candidates will combine strong safety awareness, chemical processing knowledge, problem-solving abilities, and teamwork skills to support efficient plant operations.

Essential Responsibilities

• Safely operate and control chemical processing equipment and production systems in accordance with written procedures and verbal instructions.
• Review chemical reactions through sight glasses and manways and utilize laboratory test results to determine process adjustments.
• Monitor gauges, flow meters, instrumentation, and process indicators to ensure operations remain within established parameters.
• Observe and regulate temperatures, pressures, and flow rates through manual adjustments to equipment and process controls.
• Patrol production areas to identify potential hazards, equipment issues, leaks, and conditions requiring maintenance or shutdown.
• Record process conditions, instrument readings, and production data using computer and paper-based systems.
• Calculate material requirements and product yields using standard formulas.
• Respond appropriately during emergency situations, including manually regulating or shutting down equipment as necessary.
• Maintain compliance with all safety, environmental, cGMP, and quality requirements.
• Operate and maintain packaging equipment to ensure finished products meet quality, volume, and labeling specifications.
• Maintain production areas in accordance with housekeeping and sanitation standards.
• Conduct inspections of safety equipment, process equipment, and forklifts as required.
• Prepare equipment and issue safe work permits for maintenance and project activities.
• Clean up spills and properly identify and handle hazardous waste materials.
• Collect, label, and store hazardous waste in designated areas.
• Work collaboratively with operations, maintenance, and other departments in a team-oriented environment.
• Participate in ongoing training and development activities.

Qualifications

• A High School Diploma or GED.
• A stable and dedicated work history.
• Previous manufacturing, chemical processing, industrial, or production experience preferred.
• Solid computer and math skills.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• The ability to work independently and within a team environment.
• The ability to work rotating 12-hour shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.
• The ability to lift at least 50 pounds.

Physical Requirements

• Frequently stand and walk for extended periods during 12-hour shifts.
• Frequently climb stairs and use hands for handling equipment and materials.
• Occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
• The ability to work around machinery, hazardous chemicals, fumes, and odors.
• Must possess close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to maintain focus throughout the workday.
