Chemical Operator
Job Description
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Adhere to all safety policies and guidelines; is accountable for their personal safety and the safety of their co-workers. Execute emergency procedures in response to chemical incidents, inclement weather, or other situations that threaten the safety of team members and the plant site. Accurately record processing information in electronic devices and on paper documents. Maintain a clean and organized workplace. Work cohesively with team members across multiple departments. Perform duties required to comply with SQF standards. Complete initial and routine safety, processing, and compliance training. Comply with all company policies and procedures. Safely utilize and operate equipment to produce and package products including the following: PPE Forklifts Weigh scales Flow meters Level, temperature, and pressure measuring devices Centrifugal and air diaphragm pumps with associated hoses and dip pipes Cam lock hoses and fittings Manual and automatic valves Sample valves/collection points Solids handling equipment Barcode scanning devices HMIs and PLCs Desktop/Laptop computers Prepare finished products for shipment with proper labels and batch documentation. Troubleshoot software, instrumentation, solids-handling, blending, and hydraulic systems. Participate in lock-out/tag-out and other safety procedures on equipment in preparation for maintenance and other activities.
Qualifications
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- High School Graduate or General Education Degree (“GED”).
- Comprehend documents such as policy manuals, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Knowledge of basic math- addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Execute written, oral or diagrammed instructions.
- Strong communication skills (oral and written).
- Ability to comprehend and execute written procedures and policies.
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
