Reliable transportation plays an important role in helping residents maintain their independence and continue participating in appointments, outings, events, and the activities that matter to them. As a Chauffeur, you will help bring that mission to life by providing safe, dependable, and courteous transportation while helping create a positive experience for residents each time they travel with Hillcrest. The role also assists with vehicle care and supports Concierge, Housekeeping, and Environmental Services when needed.

Responsibilities

  • Meet with the Lead Concierge to confirm scheduled transportation and daily updates.
  • Communicate directly with residents to confirm transportation needs and details.
  • Safely transport residents to appointments, outings, activities, and other scheduled destinations.
  • Provide friendly, respectful, and professional assistance throughout each resident’s trip.
  • Help residents safely enter and exit Hillcrest vehicles as appropriate.
  • Complete required daily vehicle inspections.
  • Maintain accurate trip and mileage logs.
  • Complete routine vehicle maintenance responsibilities as assigned.
  • Keep Hillcrest vehicles clean, washed, fueled, and ready for use.
  • Identify vehicle maintenance or safety concerns and communicate them promptly.
  • Work with community directors to coordinate transportation for monthly resident outings.
  • Deliver packages and interoffice mail as needed.
  • Assist Concierge Services with administrative responsibilities when transportation needs allow.
  • Assist Environmental Services and Housekeeping with common-area needs and Grand Hall setup when appropriate.
  • Respond to resident needs and requests in a timely, positive, and professional manner.
  • Work collaboratively with team members across Hillcrest Grand Lodge.
  • Assist with additional transportation and community responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • A safe and responsible driving history.
  • Previous experience as a chauffeur, driver, transportation specialist, senior living team member, customer-service professional, or similar role preferred.
  • A genuine interest in working with aging adults.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A friendly, patient, and service-focused approach.
  • Strong attention to safety and vehicle condition.
  • Dependability and consistent follow-through with scheduled transportation.
  • Ability to manage changing schedules and transportation needs.
  • Strong organization with trip logs, mileage records, and vehicle inspections.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in stressful or unexpected situations.
  • A willingness to assist other Grand Lodge departments when transportation responsibilities allow.
  • Ability to work independently while remaining part of a collaborative community team.
  • Comfort using technology and other resources needed to coordinate transportation.

Education & Credentials

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • At least one year of experience in a similar position preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Must maintain an acceptable driving record and meet applicable Hillcrest insurance requirements.

Physical & Other Requirements

  • Must be able to speak, read, and write English.
  • Must be able to independently lift up to 35 pounds.
  • Must be able to perform repetitive sitting, bending, standing, walking, reaching, lifting, and movement as needed.
  • Must be flexible and calm when working with residents or families in stressful situations.
  • Must be able to safely operate Hillcrest vehicles and follow applicable traffic and safety requirements.
  • Must maintain a valid driver’s license and meet applicable insurance requirements.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with strong attention to detail.
  • Must be able to utilize technology and available resources efficiently and effectively.
  • Possible exposure to communicable diseases and bodily fluids.
  • Other duties as assigned.
