Portneuf Medical Center is a nationally recognized healthcare leader with 205 beds, serving as the region's tertiary care and Level II Trauma Center. The facility houses the Portneuf Heart and Vascular Institute, Portneuf Cancer Center, Portneuf Medical Group, and Portneuf Air Rescue.

Responsibilities

• Act as a member of the department Leadership Team under the direction of the department Director & Manager.
• Serve in a leadership role to aid in the management and training of staff, organizing day-to-day activities of the department.
• Assist in the direct operations of the department in collaboration with hospital leadership to ensure compliance with all regulatory agencies and hospital requirements.
• Demonstrate knowledge and ensure compliance with the Nursing Process for patients according to Scope of Service, Nursing Standards of Care, and Hospital Policies and Procedures.
• Manage resources responsibly, including personnel, supplies, and equipment.
• Assume responsibility for clinical competency and professional development, ensuring all competencies, licensure, and education are completed prior to deadlines.
• Assist in training and developing nursing staff.
• Coordinate continuous quality improvement and quality assurance efforts, including audits to validate efforts.
• Lead and promote departmental goals, resolving staff or patient concerns using chain of command procedures when indicated.
• Contribute to the development and strategic planning with the unit manager/director in accordance with hospital goals.
• Supervise, assist, instruct, and evaluate new and existing staff, providing coaching in consultation and collaboration with the nursing director and/or manager.
• Actively participate in the development and implementation of performance improvement initiatives.
• Ensure proper documentation, record-keeping, and capture of patient charges.

Qualifications

• Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Idaho.
• BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.
• Commitment to a team problem-solving approach using a patient-focused model.
