About the role
The Charge Nurse manages departmental operations, providing leadership, mentorship, and support to direct patient care staff. They coordinate patient care delivery by assessing staffing needs, assigning appropriate staff, and ensuring timely, safe, and high-quality care. The Charge Nurse collaborates with bedside nurses to develop and implement patient care plans, sets professional conduct expectations, and serves as a resource for the unit. They hold care providers accountable for responsibilities and adherence to regulatory standards, aligning duties with organizational mission and values.
Qualifications & Skills
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN, Diploma, or BSN)
- Current RN license in the state or a compact state
- BLS certification within 30 days of hire
- Additional unit-specific certifications (e.g., ACLS, PALS, NRP) may be required
