Charge Registered Nurse - Siena

About the role

We are seeking a full-time Charge Registered Nurse for our Siena clinic in Henderson, Nevada. This role provides leadership and support for nursing and clinical support staff, ensuring professional nursing care adheres to national and company standards. The Charge RN assists the manager of nursing services in supervising and coordinating nursing functions, serving as a resource to clinical personnel.

Responsibilities

• Oversee clinical operations for nursing and clinical support activities as directed by the manager of nursing services.
• Assist in staff training, in-service instruction, and determining staffing requirements while maintaining effective coverage within budgetary guidelines.
• Participate in interviewing, recruiting, and annual performance evaluations of nursing and clinical staff.
• Review and revise clinical policies and procedures; verify correct coding and charge capture.
• Plan, implement, coordinate, and evaluate continuity of care consistent with established standards.
• Assess health status by interviewing patients regarding current status and medical history; collect and record nursing assessments and interventions.
• Review and report health status assessments, laboratory/radiographic data, and psychosocial assessments to providers.
• Provide patient/family teaching, psychosocial support, and maintain patient confidentiality.
• Prepare and administer therapies, medications, and blood products under physician supervision, ensuring proper dosage, route, and technique.
• Obtain pre-authorization and consent forms prior to therapy administration where applicable.
• Facilitate dose modification by assessing patients, consulting protocols, and collaborating with physicians on symptom management.
• Perform venipuncture, access implanted ports, and maintain central line catheter devices.
• Maintain accurate documentation of patient care and treatments provided.
• Apply knowledge of reimbursement procedures and charge capture.
• Restock supplies, follow OSHA guidelines for handling cytotoxic agents and biohazardous waste, and maintain disinfection protocols.
• Maintain equipment according to quality control standards.
• Manage patient medication refill requests, assist with exams/procedures, and maintain efficient patient flow.
• Schedule consultations, diagnostic tests, referrals, and future appointments; triage patient phone calls and document relevant information.
• Facilitate communication between patients/families and the interdisciplinary team; coordinate related services.
• Assist patients in locating community resources.
• Collaborate with clinical research and act as a resource to LPN/LVNs and medical assistants.
• Provide nursing coverage for satellite offices as needed; mentor/precept less experienced nurses.
• Participate in professional development activities and maintain current knowledge of oncology nursing.
• For Infusion RN: Program portable infusion pumps for continuous drug delivery, instruct patients/caregivers on pump use, and demonstrate knowledge of ambulatory infusion pump maintenance and documentation.

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited professional nursing education program; BSN preferred.
• Active RN state license and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in the practicing state.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Five years of nursing experience, including at least one year in oncology (preferred).
• One year of supervisory or nursing leadership experience (preferred).
• Oncology certification and Chemotherapy/Immunotherapy provider card (preferred).

Working Conditions

• Possible exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, and medical preparations common in an oncology/hematology clinic.
• Requires full range of body motion, including handling/lifting patients, manual/finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
• Requires standing and walking for extensive periods; occasional lifting of up to 40 lbs.
• Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
