About the Role
The Labor & Delivery unit at North Colorado Medical Center is a busy unit providing a personalized birthing experience to each of our mothers. We provide evidence-based and patient-centered nursing care. Our 10-bed unit averages roughly 130 births per month. We provide care to a diverse patient population and see a variety of acuity in patients. We have night shift 30 and 36-hour per week positions available. Strong candidates will have a background in Charge Nurse Labor and Delivery roles. The Charge Nurse position comes with an additional shift differential to be discussed at time of interview.

Responsibilities
- Assesses patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural, and discharge planning needs.
- Reviews patient history and physical with patient/family and assures completion within appropriate timeframe.
- Reviews available information obtained by other health care team members and diagnostics/laboratory data, reporting abnormal results to physicians and caregivers.
- Completes assessment and reassessments according to patient need and policy.
- Formulates a plan of care, including discharge planning, utilizing assessment data and input from patient, family, and health team.
- Initiates a plan of care based on patient-specific needs, assessment data, and the medical plan of care, ensuring goals are realistic and measurable.
- Considers physical, cultural, psychosocial, spiritual, age-specific, and educational needs in the plan of care.
- Plans care in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team and revises it based on changing patient needs.
- Implements the plan of care through direct patient care, coordination, delegation, and supervision of health care team activities.
- Provides care based on physician orders and the nursing plan of care, complying with policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Delegates appropriately and provides supervision for licensed nurses and other personnel.
- Promotes continuity of care by accurately communicating patient status to other caregivers.
- Evaluates patient and family response to care and teaching, revising the plan of care as needed.
- Evaluates patient progress toward goals and expected outcomes in collaboration with the health care team.
- Documents assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in the patient record, ensuring it is legible, timely, and compliant with policy.
- Provides care based on best evidence available and may participate in research activities within clinical practice.
- Participates in unit or facility shared leadership, education, role development, and orientation of personnel, patients, students, families, and visitors.
- Promotes growth of others through precepting and mentoring when appropriate.
- Contributes to excellent patient outcomes through timely, effective, efficient, equitable, and safe care.
- Actively participates in improving national nursing quality indicators and outcomes, including participation in professional organizations.
- Interacts with staff at all levels, physicians, patients, families, external contacts, and other health care providers to report or clarify information.
- Synthesizes and prioritizes data from multiple sources to support patient and family responses to health status changes.
Requirements
- Current, valid RN license in state of practice, temporary/interim RN license, or compact RN licensure for current state of practice.
- BLS certification required.
- Additional certification or continuing education may be required based on area of practice.
- Experience in the clinical area for which applying is desired.
- Must maintain clinical performance competencies appropriate to the area of work as demonstrated through annual validations.
- Banner Registry and Travel acute care positions require a minimum of one year of experience in an acute care hospital setting within the past 12 months.
- For Home Health settings, must be able to operate a personal vehicle with a valid driver’s license and active auto insurance.
- For Behavioral Health settings serving children in Arizona, must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at hire and maintain it.
- For Banner Home Care AZ, must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at hire and maintain it.
- For Banner Staffing (BSS) Behavioral Health roles in Arizona, must possess a State of Arizona Department of Public Safety Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card.

- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Professional certification preferred.

Pay
Estimated pay range: $33.11 - $55.18 per hour. Banner Health is committed to pay equity and transparency. The posted range is a reasonable estimate based on relevant experience, education, certifications, skills, and geographic location. Actual pay determined at offer will include a review of current employees in similar roles to ensure pay equity.
